Twelve Foot Ninja embodies originality in everything they do. Following a successful launch campaign for their debut album SILENT MACHINE, the band sold out all capital cities on their first Australian headline tour in January 2013 and backed it up in September-October with the Australian Shuriken tour and a mini European tour taking in UK and Germany. The band’s first tour dates in Europe included a heaving, sold out headline show in London with most of the audience singing lyrics with the sort of familiarity previously only seen in their home city of Melbourne. The following night, Twelve Foot Ninja played the main stage at Euroblast Festival in Cologne, selling the most amount of merch of any band except the headliner, the godfathers of djent metal, Meshuggah. Twelve Foot Ninja have toured the US four times – firstly with Periphery and Born of Osiris for the majority of their North American tour in October & November 2013, then in April-May 2014 with their first headline tour plus several major rock festivals including Rock On The Range, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, and Rocklahoma. They toured with In This Moment Oct-Nov 2014 taking in 38 shows across 8 weeks recruiting a mass of new supporters, and in 2016 the band played several more major rock festivals plus sideshows with Nothing More.
Twelve Foot Ninja skip between several genres within the same song seamlessly. This is what their rapidly growing fan base has come to appreciate – to expect the unexpected. Crowd favorite “Coming For You” pounces with heavy riffage before switching to a latin verse and a 70’s funk chorus almost with the flick of a switch. It shouldn’t work but somehow they do it effortlessly. The heavy grooves of “Mother Sky” and “Vanguard” nod to the band’s love of Meshuggah, while the anthemic “Shuriken”, “Deluge” and “Ain’t That a Bitch” display a knack for outstanding songcraft.
Twelve Foot Ninja’s journey started with the release of EPs NEW DAWN (2008) and SMOKE BOMB (2010) – both of which gained the support of alternative radio and enabled them to build a dedicated following across Australia.
When Twelve Foot Ninja supported progressive metal juggernauts Periphery (US) and Tesseract (UK) – the founder/guitarist of Periphery professed, “Twelve Foot Ninja are basically one of the best live bands I have ever seen in my life. Holy f*** they are tight”.
Fast forward to now and Twelve Foot Ninja have fast become the name on heavy music lovers’ lips. Their second album OUTLIER dropped on 26th August 2016 and debuted at #1 on Australian Independent Record Label Association’s 100% Independent Album Chart, #2 on the ARIA Australian Artist Chart and #6 on the overall ARIA chart. Twelve Foot Ninja’s OUTLIER is ARIA nominated for 2016 Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album.
In the US, Twelve Foot Ninja were the 2014 Winners of Best New Talent at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards for their debut album SILENT MACHINE.
